About Jerez

Jerez regularly hosts top class motorsport and has been a regular fixture on the MotoGP calendar since it was built in 1986. The final hairpin was the scene of Rossi's last gasp pass on fierce rival Gibernau in the 2005 GP, a race that is considered one of the best of all time. The circuit is situated in the far south of Spain, close to the city from which it takes its name, in the warm sherry producing region. In 2002 the facilities and track underwent major modifications and in 2005 a full resurface was carried out. The surface is now super smooth and grippy, with vast run off areas. The layout makes for a fast, flowing circuit that culminates in a series of mega fast right handers just before the famous final hairpin. With a good mixture of left and right handers, the direction changes add to the technical nature of of track.
